To use this DNS method it’s no longer needed to ‘enable’ your IP manually in the Mediahint Account page, you can still follow this video instructions for setting up the Mediahint DNS servers in your device.
To enable MediaHint on Playstation 4:
Step 1: Choose Settings > Network
Step 2: Select Set up Internet Connection
Step 3: Select Custom
Step 4: Choose Wi-Fi or LAN depending on how you connect to the Internet
Step 5: Choose Automatic for IP-address
Step 6: Choose Do Not Specify for DHCP Host Name
Step 7: Choose DNS Settings > Manual
Step 8: Set Primary DNS as 198.58.98.50
Step 9: Set Secondary DNS as 23.92.29.210
Step 10: Click Next to test the connection
Step 11: Restart your PS4
Please note: In order to install US apps on your PS4 you need a US PSN account. Go to http://us.playstation.com/playstation-plus to create a US PSN account.
If you experience low speed connection problems on the PlayStation 4, there may be some additional configurations you can make that will help.
The following suggestion was sent by a MediaHint user:
You can try opening/forwarding ports on your router for PlayStation to work at its best.
First, in your PlayStation configuration you must set an IP for the PS4 so it will not get a different one on a router reboot in the future. This is done by going to settings > networks, and setting up network just as in the setup steps above, only before changing DNS – also change IP, to just any IP in your own network (try giving it a high number at the end of the IP so it will always be available).
Then on the router side, either set the PS4 IP (the number you’ve just set in the PS4) as DMZ to quickly open all ports, or manually open ports: 80, 443, 1935, 3478, 3479, 3480 for both TCP & UDP.
